I’ve spent the last couple weeks researching what fruit trees would grow best in the College Station area. Corey wants a variety of fruit on the farm because that’s what the customers are asking for so I decided that having the basics would be a good start for the farm. We decided to get a peach, plum, pear, pomegranate, persimmon, and jujube trees; and we want to get blueberries as well; we’ve already planted strawberries and blackberries and Tim is giving us a fig tree. I’ve made a list of different varieties that do well in central Texas and had it looked over by Tim and he said it was a good list and he gave us a nursery to call about the fruit trees. Today we called Womack’s Nursery about the actual fruit trees to try and order them because they had the varieties we wanted. It was more of a phone tag sort of deal with Womack’s and we didn’t get to order the trees today. So we called nurseries in the College Station area about blueberry bushes but no one had the varieties we needed. We looked up nurseries that would carry blueberries and we finally found one. Bob’s Nursery had all five of the blueberries we needed! So we placed the order for the blueberries and they said they would arrive at the end of the week. So now we wait and see and hopefully get in touch with Womack’s again!
