Welcome to my blog! I am so excited to begin my internship here at the Howdy Farm, so feel free to talk to me. Whether you have questions or just want to chat about plants, I'm here for you! If you want to come see me hard at work, you can catch me every Thursday morning. On Thursdays we harvest in the morning for our afternoon market. Which brings me to my project for the semester: I'm going to keep track of all the vegetables we harvest throughout the year! Here at the Howdy Farm, we want to provide sustainable agriculture for the community at a fair price, but how much food do we actually produce? That's where I come in! This morning I harvested everything from cucumbers to jalapenos to purple hull peas. In the picture to the right, you'll see an okra plant. On the top is the flower, which is pollinated and eventually grows into an okra, which is in the bottom of the picture.
I loved this view because of the beauty. God could have created a simple yet functional structure to carry out the job of pollination, but instead He created a beautiful flower to bring us joy! That's why I love plants: they reflect God's love for us. Stay tuned for more adventures from Bethany the Intern!
