We harvested the sweet potatoes today, and for those of you who don't know all yams are sweet potatoes, but all sweet potatoes are not yams. Well, despite the obvious bad planning in naming the tubers, the harvesting process is pretty dirty, but let's hope that doesn't soil your opinion.
The sweet potato patch at the Howdy Farm was located between a stand of Okra....which is another post altogether
4 volunteers, Cory, and dug up the taters, very carefully. By following the growing vine/root thing, and digging. We had to make sure not to loose a root (because another sweet potato could be at the other end) and extra careful not to snap the tuber. Over all, it was very enjoyable. I got nice and dirty before my lab.
