My first week at the farm involved fire ants, soil, and lingering itchiness. BUT it was great.
I had honestly never seen Okra growing before, and let me tell y'all, Okra plant's are mean and odd looking....but are probably putting up these defenses because they're misunderstood.
Okra is a unique plant....
First of all, Okra grows on lanky stalks that have a purple tinge. If that wasn't different enough, they're covered in itch-makers , not the scientific term of course. I picked Okra in shorts and a tank-top, BAD choice, but not as bad as letting a leaf touch my face. Not to mention that I had class afterwards. Overall, there's a reason no one likes to pick okra, it's mean! (but tasty)
